Will the formula compress well?

A tablet needs a workable blend as well as a target ingredient amount. Powder flow, compressibility, tablet weight and the supporting ingredients are reviewed together.

We can discuss swallowable tablets, chewable tablets, lozenges and effervescent formats. Share a reference product if you have one, and tell us which characteristics should stay the same or change.

Swallowable tablets

Review tablet weight, dimensions, shape and any coating needs. The formula and serving target guide the size; an existing ingredient list does not by itself establish a workable tablet.

Chewables & lozenges

Flavor, sweetness, mouthfeel and hardness deserve a clear sample brief. Ingredient taste and the intended way of using the product influence the final formula.

Effervescent tablets

Define the amount of water, flavor, sweetness and expected dissolving behavior. Review the acid/base system and moisture-protective packaging as part of the same development project.

The format sets
the production checks.

Chewable, swallowable and effervescent tablets need different sample briefs. Agree which physical and in-use checks apply, and keep the approved dimensions, weight and appearance in the order specification.

Physical specification

Record dimensions, appearance, target weight and the relevant hardness or friability criteria. Agree which tests apply to this tablet format.

Disintegration and preparation checks

For swallowable tablets, discuss the appropriate disintegration or other specified tests. For effervescents, define the preparation method and sample evaluation conditions.

Protection in the pack

Select packaging for the formula and intended shelf-life study. Moisture protection is particularly important for effervescent products; tube, seal and storage choices need to be reviewed.

PRODUCTION & PACKAGING

Pack for the tablet’s intended use.

Review bottles, tubes or blisters against the selected tablet format. For effervescents, discuss the tube, seal and moisture protection together; confirm the packing route before artwork approval.

Approve together: Tablet count, dimensions and protective pack.
Record the version: Sample reference, use instructions and artwork.

Can you provide tablet compression for an existing formula?

Yes, we can review an existing formula for a compression project. Send ingredient specifications, quantities and any current manufacturing or sample data. Changes to excipients or processing may be needed and should be approved first.

Are effervescent and chewable tablets the same?

No. Effervescent tablets are developed to disperse or dissolve in water according to their instructions. Chewable tablets are designed to be chewed. Their formulation and packaging briefs are different.

Can I specify the tablet shape or coating?

Share the dimensions, shape and coating requirement. We will review the formula and available tooling, then confirm any development needs before sampling.

Can a tablet formula be copied into a gummy?

It needs a separate development review. Ingredient loading, excipients, taste and processing change with the format; the same ingredient list does not establish the same serving size, texture or processing requirements.
